Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling & Illustrated by Jim Kay (Illustrated Edition)

God bless J.K. Rowling for releasing the Illustrated Edition of Harry Potter last year. I was supposed to have read it in December but I couldn’t but I did finish it this month and it was a dream.

Just- guys, owning this as a poster or getting the entire foldout of Diagon Alley, it’d be magical. Stunning art.

Goodreads/ Amazon

Rating- 5/5 stars

Publisher- Bloomsbury

Pages- 248 (Hardcover)

The illustrations throughout the book were the best part- even though I’ve read the books before this was like picking up the world for the first time, the characters familiar but still with mystery around them and the world felt a lot darker, more foreign than what we’ve witnessed before. Jim Kay has done an absolutely beautiful job and I cannot wait to pick up a Monster Calls by Patrick Ness to see more of his work and fawn over it.

I absolutely loved everything about it. It was the perfect winter read and I couldn’t help but cry a little. This is Harry Potter we’re talking about, not crying would be a crime.
